As a part of our Scholar Spotlight series, we sat down with DLFF/CEC Scholar Madelynn DiLeonardo to get to know more about her and the various service projects that she has worked on throughout her time within DLFF.

Madelynn DiLeonardo is from Yardley, PA and is currently a Freshman at Conwell-Egan Catholic High School (CEC) set to graduate in the Class of 2027. In her free time, Madelynn loves to work on art projects, sewing, and spend time with her friends and family. She is also a part of the CEC field hockey and lacrosse teams.

When asked who inspires her most, Madelynn says her aunt. “She always has worked her hardest to reach her goals and she has always put her family first no matter what,” said Madelynn.

Madelynn is early on in her DLFF scholar career and has already immersed herself within DLFF service opportunities. She has volunteered her time both inside and outside DLFF. However, Madelynn’s favorite service opportunity to date is with her Girl Scout Troop.

This year, Madelynn worked with her Girl Scout Troop for a sustainable service project that earned her 50 hours of service. She committed her time and energy into creating 20 ‘no sew’ blankets, as well as 25 pillows. Madelynn donated her creations to Pennridge FISH.

Pennridge FISH stands for Fellowship in Serving Humanity. Its mission is to serve its neighbors with dignity and care, treating others as ourselves. Currently, the organization is accepting clothing donations and offers a contactless curbside pick up for those in need.

Not only did Madelynn complete this service opportunity, but she earned the second highest award a Girl Scout can earn, the Silver award, for her dedication and efforts on this project. Madelynn says earning this award is her biggest achievement thus far, and has only propelled her excitement and commitment into earning the Gold Award. To earn this, Madelynn must complete 100 service hours.

Though graduation seems far, Madelynn is already thinking about her future. She hopes to go to college and major in criminal justice.

Congratulations and excellent work, Madelynn! We are so proud of everything you have done, we cannot wait to see all the amazing things you do throughout your time in DLFF.
