Scholar Spotlight: Chase Esposito

As a part of our Scholar Spotlight series, we sat down with DLFF scholar Chase Esposito to get to know more about him and various service projects that he's worked on within DLFF.

Chase is currently a sophomore at Conwell-Egan Catholic High School. Outside of his commitments to school and DLFF, Chase enjoys traveling and spending time with his friends and family. He also loves to remain active, specifically running and swimming. Chase says the two people that give him inspiration are his parents. “They are always there for me and work hard to provide and give me a great life.”

Throughout the last two years as a DLFF/CEC scholar, Chase has excelled in both academics and his commitment to service. He has volunteered for numerous community service opportunities and almost always exceeds his scholarship required service hours. Some of the organizations Chase has volunteered for are Our Lady of Grace, YMCA Bucks, Rolling Harvest Food Rescue, Washington Crossing National Cemetery, United Way Bucks County, Silver Lake Nature Center, and Pennsbury Manor.

Chase says that his most impactful experience was with Rolling Harvest Food Rescue. “I got to learn the importance of food security and how this is a problem even in our community. Also the major struggle for many locals to put food on the table. This project was so meaningful to me because it helped our community and our veterans. Every time we gave them a giant ham, their faces lit up and they were all so happy.”

When the DLFF/CEC mentor team was asked about Chase, they had nothing but outstanding things to say. “Chase continues to show evidence of the DLFF traits (Responsibility, Accountability, Initiative, Leadership, and Service) every day. He was the only scholar to volunteer his time on MLK Day and he has already met his minimum service hours for the year, so he did not have to participate in this event. This was his 6th year participating in the wreath clean up at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery.” says Mrs. Lynch.

DLFF Executive Director and member of the DLFF/CEC scholar mentor team Mrs. Sue Dilisio had this to say about Chase: “Chase has shown initiative, a commitment to service and natural leadership skills from the time he started in our scholar program. He is a humble young man, who gets the job done without seeking the spotlight. Overall, he is responsive, accountable and an all-around pleasure to work with.”

As for his future goals within DLFF, Chase hopes to one day host his own fundraiser or service event. He also wants to incorporate his love of running into his commitment to service. “I would really like to invite a group of scholars to run a race or fun run for charity,” he added.

If Chase could give one piece of advice to potential new scholars, he encourages people to try something new and get involved.

“Try new types of service and sign up for at least one project that you wouldn’t normally do. Giving back and volunteering is so rewarding, fun, and it can teach you so much. You can also sign up for service with friends or volunteer with a group,” said Chase. “The DLFF Team and staff are super helpful and resourceful, they can help you achieve any dream, goal, or service that you could think of.”

Upon graduation from CEC in 2027, the world is Chase’s oyster. However, it is his hope to attend college, compete in college athletics and travel as much as he can. We are so proud of Chase and all of his hard work and commitment to the things he is passionate about. We cannot wait to see everything else he accomplishes. Keep up the great work, Chase!
